The Permission Slip Log

Pre-written permissions for things you won't give yourself

Key

The Problem:
You're waiting for permission. To rest. To want more. To say no. To take up space. To stop performing.
You're waiting for someone to tell you it's okay.
No one's coming.
So here it is. Permission. In writing. Use them as many times as you need.

PERMISSION TO REST
I give myself permission to rest without earning it first.
I give myself permission to be unproductive.
I give myself permission to nap, zone out, do nothing, and not apologize for it.
Rest is not a reward for productivity. It's a requirement for being human.
I don't need to be useful to deserve rest.

PERMISSION TO WANT MORE
I give myself permission to want more than I have.
I give myself permission to be ambitious, hungry, and unapologetic about it.
I give myself permission to outgrow people, places, and versions of myself.
Wanting more doesn't make me greedy. It makes me alive.
I don't need to be grateful for less than I want.

PERMISSION TO BE ANGRY
I give myself permission to be angry.
I give myself permission to stop performing nice when I'm not.
I give myself permission to rage, yell, slam doors, and not smile through it.
My anger is information. It's telling me something needs to change.
I don't need to be pleasant to be worthy of respect.

PERMISSION TO SAY NO
I give myself permission to say no without explanation.
I give myself permission to disappoint people.
I give myself permission to protect my time, energy, and space without apology.
"No" is a complete sentence. I don't owe anyone a justification.
I don't need their approval to set boundaries.

PERMISSION TO BE SELFISH
I give myself permission to prioritize myself.
I give myself permission to choose my needs over their comfort.
I give myself permission to stop martyring myself for people who wouldn't do the same.
Selfish is what they call women who stop serving them.
I don't need to sacrifice myself to be valuable.

PERMISSION TO TAKE UP SPACE
I give myself permission to be loud, visible, and unapologetic.
I give myself permission to stop shrinking to make others comfortable.
I give myself permission to be too much for people who want me small.
I am not "too much." They are not enough.
I don't need permission to exist fully.

Date: _______________________________

PERMISSION TO CHANGE MY MIND
I give myself permission to change my mind.
I give myself permission to want different things than I wanted before.
I give myself permission to outgrow commitments I made when I didn't know better.
Growth means changing. Not staying loyal to old versions of myself.
I don't need to honor promises that no longer serve me.

Date: _______________________________

PERMISSION TO QUIT
I give myself permission to quit things that drain me.
I give myself permission to walk away from relationships, jobs, and obligations that cost too much.
I give myself permission to stop finishing what I started if it's killing me.
Quitting isn't failure. Staying in the wrong thing is.
I don't need to justify my exit.

Date: _______________________________

PERMISSION TO FAIL
I give myself permission to try and fail.
I give myself permission to suck at things, be embarrassed, and try anyway.
I give myself permission to be a beginner, make mistakes, and not be perfect.
Failure is data. Not identity.
I don't need to be flawless to be worthy.

PERMISSION TO ENJOY MY LIFE
I give myself permission to feel joy without guilt.
I give myself permission to laugh, play, and have fun without earning it.
I give myself permission to enjoy my life even when others aren't enjoying theirs.
My joy doesn't take from anyone else.
I don't need suffering to prove I'm good.
Signed: _______________________________
Date: _______________________________

PERMISSION TO BE IMPERFECT
I give myself permission to be messy, flawed, and human.
I give myself permission to not have it all together.
I give myself permission to be a work in progress and stop performing perfection.
I am not a project to complete. I am a person in process.
I don't need to be fixed to be worthy of love.
Signed: _______________________________
Date: _______________________________

PERMISSION TO STOP PERFORMING
I give myself permission to stop pretending.
I give myself permission to be exactly who I am without apology.
I give myself permission to let people be disappointed in the real me.
Authenticity is not a performance. It's the absence of one.
I don't need anyone's approval to be myself.

HOW TO USE THESE:

Print the ones you need most. Put them where you'll see them.
Read them out loud. Especially on days you don't believe them.
Sign and date them. Make it official. You're giving yourself permission.
Use them as evidence. When guilt shows up, point to the permission slip. You already decided.

THE TRUTH:
You don't actually need permission slips. You never did.
But if seeing it in writing helps you stop waiting—use them.
The only permission that matters is the one you give yourself.
